A well-established Vancouver investment firm had been living with an inconvenient truth for years: one half of their office suffered from constant, unexplained network intermittency. The Challenge
The firm brought in Intra Systems to investigate and quote a fix. The original scope was straightforward: recable that half of the office directly back to the main server room, and add a second network drop to every location on the other, unaffected half of the office while the team was already on site.
The Solution

While mapping out the cable runs on the “unaffected” side of the office – the half that was only ever meant to receive an extra drop – our technicians found that those runs were just as substandard as the ones causing the reported problems. They simply had not failed yet. Rather than patch around a problem that would inevitably resurface, Intra Systems went back to the client with a revised recommendation: recable the entire office from scratch, done right the first time.
With the client’s approval, our team carried out a full office recable, prioritizing minimal disruption above all else. Instead of taking whole sections offline, we cut over one user at a time, interrupting a single connection for as little as five minutes to switch it over to the new cabling before moving on to the next. Business continued running normally throughout the entire project.
The Outcome
What began as a half-office repair became a complete infrastructure overhaul, delivered with almost no perceptible disruption to daily operations. The investment firm now runs on a single, consistent, professionally installed cabling standard throughout the entire office, eliminating the intermittency for good and giving their network a reliable foundation to build on for years to come.
